Purples & Pinks Oh My!

Not finished by any stretch of the imagination at this stage, but I'm not sure what else it needs.... if you have any suggestions let me know :)

Inspiration

I think I may be getting the hang of this!

You see inspiration keeps hitting me everywhere I go and with every webpage/blog/website I visit I come away with even more ideas and/or knowledge.

I can't believe I look forward to the junk mail being delivered just so that I can rat through and look for images/words which I can cut out. I happily spend my evenings cutting out the images/words or splattering paints onto pages, then waiting patiently for the paint to dry or glue to take so that I can get on with creating.

I don't always like the results, but I do enjoy the process. What I don't like I come back to later and try something else. Silhouettes, colours, words/test, prompts, paints, stencils, pencils, gel pens, fonts, stamps, glitter, inks, photos, pictures,  threads, patterns, doilies, textures, serviettes, pencils.... I could go on.... and on.

Often I make notes in my diary at work during lunchtime when ideas come out of no where so that I don't forget them and I'm going to get a small journal for my bedside table for when inspiration hits at 3am as it's beginning to.

Plain and simple I think (but don't tell anyone) that I may just be Addicted to Art!

From.... To.....

The other night I used left over paint to and gel pens to put together a page.

Then yesterday I sat down with water colour pencils, water and a brush

Today I felt it needed more 'zing' and using metallic pastels I went over yesterdays efforts :) I am now happy with this page and I've enjoyed every minute of it

Busy Night Last Night

I had an awesomely creative and productive night last night and just had to share

Using a scrunched up oven bag (of all things) I stamped a really pretty pink over top of cream which I'd painted over the white that was there.

This page just came out of nowhere, the background of orange and yellow morphed into the finished product - I love it!

One of my favourite songs

I first heard this song when travelling from Heathrow airport to Fakenham in 2008 when visiting my brother in the UK to attend his wedding. It's remained a firm favourite ever since. 

Love Saturdays!

 I twisted my husbands arm (no not really he doesn't seem to mind shopping trips too much) and dragged him out to our local emporium where I had a ton of fun ferreting out art journal supplies. I found more clear acrylic stamps, sequin wastage @ $1.00 a metre and paper doilies in two different sizes. I also purchased a set of 30 gel pens from the Warehouse craft dept.

 I then came home and played with all the new purchases putting together the two pages below, I am in love with sequin wastage and doilies. The Love, Joy and Hope stamps just called out to me :).

I Did It!

I got them and brought them home :) At 25 cents a pencil I'd have been mad to leave them there!

I had a little bit of fun last night taking photos of my bottles of bubble bath. I used different flash settings to see what would happen, below are the results :)

I am very pleased with how the bottles look, all three are second hand buys ($10 for the two square ones and $2 for the middle one at our local Sunday market), all three were  cleaned thoroughly and then filled with different types of bubble bath, the middle one as you can see gets used the most as it has a muscle soak in it.

Follow Your Bliss

Right now I'm sitting at work dreamily thinking about buying the packet of 60 artists pencils that are beckoning from the staff room. The pack has metallic, watercolour, charcol, colouring & drawing pencils (12 of each) and I am sorely tempted as they are only $15.00 (RRP $29.95) I'd be ignoring my bliss if I left them there right?

Speaking of following ones bliss I just have to share this link Man who quit college in 1932 graduates at 99. If this isn't followings ones bliss then I'm not sure what is :)

Why "Living a Life Less Ordinary"?

Ordinary? What does that word conjure into mind?

For me it means the same things day in and day out, routine, same stuff - different day. Now ordinary has it place, and I'm not saying that ordinary isn't good - but sometimes too much of a good thing..... well I'm sure you've heard the saying.

I would like to live a Life Less Ordinary, a life filled with less stress, more art, less routine, more spontaneity, more fun, more hobbies/interests and I hope to blog about my adventures here.

A beginning

We all have to start somewhere and begin I have, "what, begun what?" you may ask.

This blog for one thing, and art journalling for another.

For the past month I have been dipping my toes into the world of art again after reading about art journalling on a message board I frequent. My interest was piqued and google, youtube and yahoo groups gave me a wealth of information once I started looking.
